New York Times Best Selling Author Neal Stephenson at COM

“[Neal] Stephenson has a once-in-a-generation gift: he makes complex ideas clear, and he makes them funny, heartbreaking and thrilling.” – TIME

Kentfield, CA—August 31, 2011
—On Thursday, October 6th, College of Marin and Book Passage will host acclaimed writer Neal Stephenson, who will read from and discuss his BIG new 980+ page novel, Reamde, (a spoonerism pronounced as Read Me).

Stephenson, author of the #1 New York Times bestseller Anathem, is continually tripping the literary world with his brazen and brilliant fictional creations – whether he’s reimagining the past (The Baroque Cycle), inventing the future (Snow Crash*), or somehow doing both (Cryptonomicon). Snowcrash was named one of TIME magazine’s top 100 all-time best English-language novels.

With Reamde, this visionary author whose mind-stretching speculative fiction has been enthusiastically compared to the work of Pynchon, DeLillo, Vonnegut, and David Foster Wallace – not to mention William Gibson – once again blazes new ground. And once again, he delivers a high-intensity, high-stakes, action-packed thriller in which a tech entrepreneur gets caught in the very real crossfire of his own online war game.

This special event – one of only a handful of events around the country – will take place at College of Marin, Olney Hall (835 College Ave. in Kentfield) on Thursday, October 6th at 7pm. Tickets are $40 and include a copy of Reamde (William Morrow, $35.00). A booksigning will follow.
