Contemporary Opera Marin presents Frida

Paul Smith, director

Contemporary Opera Marin, the opera company of the College of Marin, presents Frida directed by Paul Smith. This opera in one act, by Robert X. Rodriguez, will be performed June 22, 24 and July 1. This seventy-five minute work is fully staged and sung in English, and the large cast features Diana Kehrig as Frida Kahlo and Michael P. Mendelsohn as Diego Rivera— Frida’s lifelong love and muse. Her larger than life personality and adventures make this an ideal vehicle for a music drama. Rodriguez' score, in the mold of Kurt Weill and Leonard Bernstein, perfectly incorporates the sounds of Mexico and grand opera.

FREE admission to all three performances.
