Dedication of the Humiston Reading Room
KENTFIELD, CA—April 1, 2014—You are invited to the dedication of the Humiston Reading Room, a beautiful location on campus in which to enjoy the pleasures of the written word. The room was made possible through a generous bequest by the Thomas Frederic Humiston Trust. Humiston believed that community colleges offered everyone a chance to obtain a college education and pursue their dreams. He attended Santa Ana Community College and transferred to Stanford University where he earned a bachelor’s, a master’s and a doctorate degree. He served as an officer in WWII and during the Korean War and later worked for many years as a counselor at San Francisco City College. After retiring from City College in 1975, he delighted in taking classes at College of Marin. It was his wish to provide College of Marin Emeritus College students with just such a place to experience literature. There will be hors d’oeuvres and a ribbon cutting.
Tuesday, April 15, 5 p.m. – 6 p.m.
