The Fiber Sculpture Gallery
The fiber sculpture class begins with spontaneous ways of working with
surfaces and structures. Students in the Fiber Sculpture class develop individual
expression and concepts making three dimensional forms with traditional
and non-traditional materials. The scale ranges from personal objects to
installations.
Materials may include wire, plastic, hog casings, flax, fabric, tree cuttings.
Methods may include construction processes of netting, knotting, coiling,
wrapping, layering, and felting.
Studio work is augmented with historical and contemporary information about
artists in this and related fields.
