9  - Altered Basalt and Radiolarian Chert
As we rounded the corner, we actually entered some of the former volcanic rocks (the yellowish rock on the right of the photo).  The rocks are highly altered and do not show the major character of these volcanic rocks at this site.  Note that the chert and masses of jasper are lying above the volcanic rocks.  The jasper is commonly an isolated mass within the chert and here on the bottom left looking somewhat a potato or cauliflower imbedded with the chert.
