| This boundary between two blocks shows the nature of the matrix.
Almost having the appearance of flowing or being mixed, note that the individual
greenish material in the black matrix has a tapered on both ends character.
Even the larger blocks in the melange seem to have this character. We will
look closer at this boundary in subsequent slides. Geologists ask themselves
if all of this could have been done by the grinding and collision between
the continent and the old ocean floor or could other processes explain
the flow-like character. |
