What is Tech Prep? Tech Prep is a federally funded program that helps to establish a partnership among area high schools and Regional Occupational Program (ROP) training centers and the College of Marin to encourage you, as a high school student, to begin training and planning your life's work by taking high school Tech Prep courses that lead to a college certificate or degree. What are Tech Prep Courses and What Does Articulation mean? Tech Prep courses are designated occupational courses taught to high school students at high schools by high school teachers. Successful completion of such courses with a "B" grade or better and satisfying other college criteria makes you eligible to use such a course for advanced placement and to apply for credit by exam at the College of Marin. A high school course used in this way is called an articulated course, and the process of using it is called articulation. Here, the word articulate means to become united or connected by. Certain high school courses are connected to, or articulate with college courses. What are the advantages of taking Tech Prep courses in high school? You can get a head start on your college education by beginning your training in high school, then continuing in college. You will become focused on your life, educational, and career goals by working on a Career Certificate, a Skills Certificate, or an Associate Degree offered by the College.
