Career Day College of Marin — Indian Valley Campus Multimedia, Business Office Systems, and Court Reporting disciplines at the College of Marin hosted Marin area high school students, teachers, and school to work representatives this spring at a half-day open house career day on March 25. Over 60 students attended from Novato High School, San Marin, San Rafael, Terra Linda, Tam, and Drake. Students were bused to IVC and immediately gathered and were welcomed by college representatives. Students then rotated through four 35-minute workshops where they learned about careers in multimedia, business office systems, and court reporting. Rotations included presentations on Multimedia, Microsoft WORD XP, Microsoft A+ Computer Repair, and a joint session featuring such business and industry representatives as Marin Educational Fund, Golden Gate Reporters and Court Reporting, Computer Sciences Corporation, and college counselors. At noon, five different varieties of pizza arrived, and students were treated to lunch. The Computer Information System Club, the Networking Club, and business and industry representatives were available to talk with students and answer career questions, as well as point out what courses at the College will help guide them toward further career exploration.
