  • The Brown Act applies only to public ELECTED bodies and so does not apply to committees.
  • Process: Any constituent group can initiate a policy and as the Tech Committee Chair, and a Senator, I can bring it to the Senate.  From there it would go to College /Council for vetting and then back there and on to the BoT to become a policy.

Implementation Process & shared Governance

  • Much of IVC has gone wireless: the MSAT library building; at least part of Miwok (also used by MSAT); the building that Swinerton occupies near admissions; Pomo; maybe more.
  • Questions from College Community: Does anybody know if the Technology Committee was consulted on these great improvements? How about the cost? Is COM footing the bill for MSAT? For Swinerton? Are taxpayer dollars via the Bond paying for these things?
  • What is the governance process in  respect to implementation.
