STUDENT SUCCESS ORIENTATION FOR STUDENTS NEW TO COLLEGE

Native English Orientation and Testing

1. Fill out the Admission Application first.  Click here if you would like to complete the application online

IMPORTANT NOTE: Applying to the College is the only way to get the required Student Identification Number necessary to register for Native English Placement Testing.  It will take a few days or so to get your Student ID M00#, so please plan ahead.

2. Complete the Online Orientation.

It is available 24/7 at www.marin.edu/orientation; click here Online orientation

3. Schedule and complete the College of Marin Math and English Placement Testing. 

The testing schedule is posted on the Testing Center door, Student Services Bldg. Room 238, or on our web site - www.marin.edu. Go to the Assessment and Testing link or click here  Assessment and Testing.

4. Arrange a meeting with a counselor.

IMPORTANT: Please indicate that you are NEW and have completed the orientation and testing.

Say something like, "Hello, I am new to college and would like to meet with a counselor." Call 415.485.9432 or go to Kentfield, Counseling Services, SS 211 or 210.

CREDIT ESL (English as a Second Language) Orientation and Testing

The English as a Second Language (ESL) Workshops are for new students whose native language is not English. Students will have their English level assessed, be introduced to the College of Marin and its ESL and other programs, and receive assistance in registering for classes appropriate for their language levels.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Applying to the College is the only way to get the required Student Identification Number necessary to register for Credit ESL In-person Orientation and Placement Tests.  It will take a few days or so to get your Student ID M00#, so please plan ahead.
