Welcome to the Tutoring and Learning Center (TLC)

The Tutoring and Learning Center at College of Marin offers free peer-tutoring for currently enrolled students in a variety of subjects including biology, business, chemistry, foreign languages, medical assisting, math and more! All tutors are faculty recommended and have completed a course in tutor training.

Applications for free tutoring must be completed each semester. Please go to your MyCOM account and click on the student tab to complete the online Tutoring Request Application, or stop by the Tutoring and Learning Center in LC 160 (Kentfield) or the Career and Study Center (IVC) to complete an application in person.

Mission Statement
The Tutoring and Learning Center is committed to helping the diverse student population at College of Marin become more effective and empowered learners. Our faculty-recommended peer tutors support study skill development, promote understanding of course concepts, reinforce successful study habits, and encourage independent learning to help students reach their educational goals.

Facilities
The TLC at Kentfield and the Career and Study Center at IVC have designated areas for drop-in tutoring as well as areas where students can study privately. Several computers are available to registered students for tutor related activities and academic work.

Drop-in Tutoring Schedules and Online TutoringClick here to see a complete list of tutoring schedules for all subjects. The drop-in tutoring schedules are updated daily. Schedules for drop-in tutoring are also posted in the TLC, Room 160 in the Learning Resource Center on the Kentfield campus, and Buildings 17 and 27 on the IVC campus.

We will also be offering online tutoring for several subjects this spring. If you are interested in receiving tutoring online for one of your classes, please mark your preference on the online tutoring application (the application will be available on this page in a few weeks). Tutors are online at specific hours, so be sure to check the schedule. If you are interested in tutoring for other courses, please email asktutoring@marin.edu to let us know.

College of Marin is one of 112 public community colleges in California and is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Approximately 10,000 credit and noncredit students enroll each fall and spring semester. Classes also are offered during the summer.
