Online Peer Tutoring from the Tutoring and Learning Center (TLC)

This spring, the Tutoring and Learning Center is offering free peer-tutoring online for any Math course, Biology 110, Financial Accounting, Chemistry 114 & 131, Political Science 100 & 101, Spanish, and Statistics. In these live online sessions, students will be able to ask questions, work through problems on a digital whiteboard, and get help understanding their course material. This is a pilot project which will continue to grow based on student need and feedback. To get started with online tutoring, please follow the steps below:

Step 1: Let us know your availability
Please email asktutoring@marin.edu to let us know what course(s) you would like tutoring in and what times you are available. If you are interested in online tutoring for subjects other than listed, please let us know that as well.

Step 2: Visit the Tutoring Room
Please visit the Practice Room to test drive the website and available tools. Look through this quick orientation guide for an introduction to the most commonly used tools, and take a few minutes to try them out. If you have technical difficulties, please see the FAQ's below.

Step 3: Check the Schedule and Join in!
To join a tutoring session, just click the blue link to the tutoring room below. Please note, tutors are only available during the listed hours. The phone number is an optional conference line that you can use during a session to speak to the tutor directly.

I can't connect to the Tutoring Room. What should I do?
First, make sure you are using a supported browser. CCC Confer works with these browsers:

• Internet Explorer 7 and 8
• Mozilla Firefox 3.5 and 4.0
• Google Chrome 5.0 (but only with the Windows 7 Operating System)
• Safari 3 and 4 (for Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6)

Second, make sure your pop-up blocker is not blocking the application. If asked whether you would like to download or run the application, please click "yes."

Third, try running the Computer Readiness Wizard for CCC Confer (the program we use for online tutoring), to identify any problems with the connection.

Who is eligible for tutoring?
All currently enrolled College of Marin students are eligible for free tutoring.

Who are the tutors?
Our tutors are all College of Marin students who have been recommended by faculty and who have completed a tutor-training course. They are the same knowledgeable, friendly peer tutors you have worked with
in person in the Tutoring & Learning Center at Kentfield and at IVC.
