Equity and Diversity Committee

ChargeThe Equity and Diversity Committee will provide leadership and planning that advocates for diversity and inclusion in College of Marin educational programs, management, operations, and employment.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership to produce a new organizational culture that encourages mutual respect, trust, acceptance and teamwork, regardless of differences and diverse backgrounds (as identified in the Board policy on non-discrimination).
Produce institutional plans to address equity issues and to eliminate barriers to diversity, including working on the Student Equity Plan required by the state chancellor’s office.
Develop and implement innovative programs focused on the needs of an increasingly diverse community.
Review relevant board policies and make recommendations for revision of board policies related to diversity and equity.
Solicit input from relevant community groups.
Establish appropriate timelines to complete tasks and make recommendations.

Composition

2 faculty appointed by the Academic Senate
2 classified staff appointed by the CSEA/SEIU Joint Committee
2 managers appointed by the Superintendent/President
2 students appointed by the Student Senate
The Chair or Co-chair will be elected from the group

College of Marin is fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. College of Marin serves approximately 9000 credit and noncredit students each spring and fall semester.
