- The VP requested that the rotation policy be
a future agenda item.
Standing Reports
Curriculum Committee
- A written report was submitted.
- The Committee reviewed 29 items; half were
returned for corrections and half were sent for approval.
- The Committee needs members.
- The AS PResident will contact the Chairs for
volunteers.
Academic Standards Committee
Discussion Items
Senate Vacancy
- One member of the AS is no longer on the
faculty this semester. This member must be replaced according to the AS
Constitution.
- AS President requests that Senators bring
names to the AS for advice and consent
- The candidate must be a part of the
part-time faculty
- Senators should e-mail names to the AS
President
- A call to all faculty will also go out on
the AS NEWS and a memo will be distributed to all faculty mailboxes.
Status of MOU on Program Review
- The AS has several questions re: the
workload issues implied in program review. The AS contacted the Union
for answers to these questions and is awaiting a response.
- AS President will ask the Union to send a
Union Rep. to the AS to address these concerns.
Equivalency Committee & Request to Audit
Faculty Minimum Qualifications
- A memo was submitted as
part of the State Minimum Qualifications and the application to hiring
at CoM.
- The State Senate has
recommended that local Senates request an internal audit of all
faculty for minimum qualifications.
- CoM does not currently
have an Equivalency Committee
- Senator Woodlief made a
motion to re-establish the AS Equivalency Committee.
- This issue will be
voted on next week.
- The AS President
requested advice from Senators to recommend faculty to serve on this
committee.
- Senator Pasquel made a
motion to request that HR perform an audit to insure that the minimum
qualifications of the state were met at the time of hire.
- The AS will vote on
this item next week.
Full Time Hiring Policy
- The AS President
completed a Hiring Survey to Community College Senates regarding
procedures used for determining Departments Eligible for full-time
hires.
- A written documenting
outlining these procedures was submitted as part of the minutes.
- The AS President
submitted a draft of criteria for ranking full-time priorities to the
AS and will bring the new rubric and committee makeup to the union for
approval to replace the current formula and to help revise Article 16.
