SOC 110 3.0 units Introductory Sociology This course will explore the relationship between sociological explanations of human behavior and the methods and results of sociological inquiry when used to examine behavior. Transfer Credit: CSU/UC 2409 Christensen P N TTh 11:10-12:30pm, KTD/DH101 SOC 205 3.0 units Intro to Research Methods and Data Analysis in Sociology Prerequisite: SOC 110;STAT ADVISED This course prepares students for upper division work in the sociology major. It examines the following topics: conducting Internet and library research; formulating testable hypotheses; qualitative and quantitative methods of examining processes; methods of examining causality; methods of examining the power of social events; methods of examining the associations between phenomena. In addition, this course trains students in the appropriate selection and use on nonparametric and parametric statistics. SOC 230 3.0 units Social Psychology This is an interdisciplinary course covering altruism; attitude formation and attitude change; conformity; person perception and social labeling; reference groups; social conflict and conflict resolution; human aggression; intergroup processes; intragroup processes; interpersonal attraction; social networks, statuses and roles; and the social development of the self.
