REAL ESTATE

Directed study courses are offered at the KTD and IVC campuses. The following courses meet educational requirements described by the California Department of Real Estate for sales and broker's license and renewal. For general license information from the California Department of Real Estate, call (916) 227-0931; for salesperson exam information, (916) 227-0900; for broker exam information, (916) 227-0899; for appraisal license or certification information, call (916) 552-9000. REAL 115 3.0 units Real Estate Principles This course emphasizes the basic concepts needed to understand the complexities of the real estate profession. The Department of Real Estate requires this course and Real Estate Practice (Real Estate 116), plus one other elective course to be taken prior to sitting for the Real Estate Salesperson's Exam. This course can also be used as one of the eight courses required for the Real Estate Broker's Exam. Specific course content is applicable towards Real Estate Appraiser Licensing but check with real estate instructors for content and subject categories based on Office of Real Estate Appraiser's requirements. Transfer Credit: CSU 5191 Rollins C S 9:10-12noon, IVC/OL153 No class meeting 2/16. 2399 Rusting J M 6:40-9:30pm, KTD/DH30 REAL 116 3.0 units Real Estate Practice Prerequisite: REAL 115 ADVISED This course introduces students to the day-to-day practice in a real estate office. It includes understanding agency obligations inherent in real estate practice and provides practice in the basic skills necessary to succeed in a real estate career. The Department of Real Estate requires this course and Real Estate Principles (Real Estate 115), plus one other elective course to be taken prior to sitting for the Real Estate Salesperson's Exam. It can also be used as one of the eight courses required for the Real Estate Broker's Exam. Specific course content is applicable towards Real Estate Appraiser Licensing but check with real estate instructors for content and subject categories based on Office of Real Estate Appraiser's requirements. Transfer Credit: CSU 2400 Rollins C T 6:40-9:30pm, KTD/FH120 REAL 215 3.0 units Real Estate Economics Prerequisite: REAL 115 ADVISED This course provides the means to interpret economic activities and real estate opportunities for the mutual benefit of property owners, investors, and real estate professionals. It is one of the acceptable electives for obtaining a Real Estate Sales license and is also one of the eight courses required to sit for the Real Estate Broker's Exam. Specific course content is applicable towards Real Estate Appraiser Licensing (check with real estate instructors for content and subject categories based on Office of Real Estate Appraiser's requirements). Transfer Credit: CSU 2401 Rollins C Th 6:40-9:30pm, KTD/FH120 REAL 218 3.0 units Property Management Prerequisite: REAL 115 ADVISED This course identifies the effective tools and methods of managing income property, both residential and commercial. It is one of the acceptable electives for obtaining a Real Estate Sales license and is also one of the eight courses required to sit for the Real Estate Broker's Exam.
