Required for biology and other majors. Transfer Credit: CSU/UC 2350 Yassa S M M 10:10-11am, KTD/SC111 PHYS 110 3.0 units Introductory Physics A survey of the fundamental concepts of physics including motion, energy and the physics of atoms. Additional topics will be selected from electricity, magnetism, light, sound, relativity, atomic and nuclear physics. Intended for liberal arts majors. Transfer Credit: CSU/UC 2351 Chavez R TTh 5:40-7pm, KTD/SC120 PHYS 207A 5.0 units Mechanics and Properties of Matter Prerequisite: MATH 123&(124CONCUR) Introduction to the fundamental concepts of mechanics and the properties of matter. Calculus is used in problem solving. Required for engineering, physics, chemistry, and other majors. Transfer Credit: CSU/UC 2352 Farriss C, Chavez R G TTh 9:40-11am, KTD/SC125 and T 1:10-2pm, KTD/SC120 and T 2:10-5pm, KTD/SC120 PHYS 207C 5.0 units Heat, Light, Sound, and Modern Physics Prerequisite: PHYS207A&(MATH223CE) This is a calculus-based course for physical science majors. It introduces the physics of fluids, the first and second laws of thermodynamics, kinetic theory of gases, light and sound waves, optical instruments, modern physics including the theory of relativity, atomic structure of matter, nuclear physics, and a brief introduction to quantum theory.
