AUTOMOTIVE COLLISION REPAIR TECHNOLOGY

Directed study courses are offered at the IVC campus. ACRT 95 1.0 unit Applied Automotive Math A course designed to prepare students for mathematical problems encountered in the automotive repair industry. This course is required for students who wish to complete the Automotive Technology or Automotive Collision Repair Certificates. 5013 4/15-5/13 Palmer R T 6:10-9:15pm, IVC/PM108 May be taken for credit as ACRT 95 or AUTO 95. Students receive credit for only one course. ACRT 168 2.0 units Joining and Fastening Processes II Study of body sheet metal and structural strength; body design and sheet metal working characteristics. This course will be primarily concerned with the various methods and techniques of fastening and joining of metals and various metal parts as they relate to the vehicle body and frame. Transfer credit: CSU 5014 Brady S W 6:10-7pm, IVC/PM152 and W 7:10-10pm, IVC/PM140 ACRT 170 4.0 units Metalworking and Fundamentals II A study of damage and developing competence in skills related to the trade. Care and use of power tools and equipment with continued training in the basic metalworking techniques. Transfer credit: CSU 5015 Behr T TTh 6:10-7pm, IVC/PM152 and TTh 7:10-10pm, IVC/PM140 ACRT 176 2.0 units Intro to Plastics for Automotive Body Repair This course introduces the student to the evaluation of damage and repair of plastics using industry proven techniques. Transfer credit: CSU 5016 Barrall M B T 1:10-2pm, IVC/PM108 and T 2:10-5pm, IVC/PM140 ACRT 225 2.0 units Automotive Careers and Customer Relations Speakers from industry will discuss independent repair shops, dealerships, and service station operations. Transfer credit: CSU 5017 1/22-4/01 Palmer R, Willits R T 6:10-9pm, IVC/PM108 Note: Room changed from PM255 to PM108 May be taken for credit as ACRT 225 or AUTO 225. Students receive credit for only one course. ACRT 274 4.0 units Painting and Refinishing - Enamels and Polyurethanes Continuation of AUBF 273 with further instruction in refinishing with acrylic enamels and polyurethanes. Transfer credit: CSU 5021 Palmer R, Brady S C W 12:10-1pm/1:10-5pm, IVC/PM108 and Sat 8:10-5:30pm, IVC/PM140 Meets Sat: 2/23, 3/22, 3/29, 4/26, 5/10 ACRT 279 2.0 units Frame Straightening and Repair Specialized training in major body repairs, unitized body alignment and fundamentals of frame repair; alignment of heavy body structure and replacing of welded body parts.
