ANTHROPOLOGY

Directed study courses are offered at the KTD campus. ANTH 101 3.0 units Intro to Physical/Biological Anthropology The study of human evolution, variation, nonhuman primates, genetics, advances in the genome study, fossil record, scientific inquiry, archeological methodology, and the fallacy of race. Students will learn about primates including behavior and anatomy, plus how to interpret selected features of the skeletal system. The nature of scientific discoveries and the changing nature of the field will expose students to new information as well as what has been learned from prior research. The department has an extensive collection of fossil casts that will enable students to view materials that few community colleges can offer. This course fulfills continuing education requirements for registered nurses. This course is designed to give students an idea of some of the activities, skills, and techniques that are employed by physical and biological anthropologists. Field trips may be arranged. This course is supplemental to Anthropology 101.
