POLICE CADET PROGRAM

Under general supervision, Cadets assist Police Officers with the enforcement of District parking regulations and direction of traffic. They escort students and staff from District facilities to their vehicles, and report suspicious and/or hazardous situations.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
The qualified applicants must have equivalence to completion of high school, be continuously enrolled as a student at College of Marin, and be willing to enroll in a work-experience program. Applicants must possess a sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, ethnic backgrounds and learning styles of community college students and staff.
Cadets are assigned 4 to 7.5 hour shifts as needed, but generally 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 6:30PM to 10:30PM Monday through Thursday, during the academic semesters. Hours may be adjusted as necessary at the discretion of the Chief of Police to accomodate student schedules and police activity.
Our Cadets have been doing a great job! They are respected by the police officers, students and staff. They learn more about police duties by observing police officers at work. They also gain experience in assisting and working with a diverse group of people.
