Parking Information- Parking Permits

ALL PARKING PRICES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE VIA BOARD POLICY!

Student and Staff parking are provided at both the Kentfield and Indian Valley campuses. College Staff are provided a STAFF PERMIT, which allows parking in designated staff areas. Students wishing to park in student parking lots, must have a valid parking permit. A student may purchase a SEMESTER PERMIT, good for the entire semester; or may purchase a DAILY PERMIT, good only for the date of purchase.

Permits MUST BE CLEARLY DISPLAYED or you will be cited. Permits MUST be displayed as follows:

DAILY $3.00 PERMITS:
On the TOP of your dashboard, just in front of your steering wheel.

STUDENT SEMESTER PERMITS:
The LOWER corner of the WINDSHIELD, on the driver's side.
You may use the "suction cup hanger" sold at the College Bookstore, but it must be placed in the lower corner of the windshield (permit faces outside).
NOTE: If your permit looses its "static cling", rub it on your clothing and re-apply.
Possession of a parking permit does NOT guarantee you a parking space. If the lot is full, you must try another student parking lot. Before purchasing a DAILY PERMIT, always find a legal parking place FIRST.

SEMESTER STUDENT PERMITS may be purchased as follows:

With a check via the mail. CLICK HERE for the permit request form. Please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery.
At the Kentfield or Indian Valley Campus ADMISSIONS and RECORDS Department.

Semester permit fees are currently $50.00 for Fall and Spring Semester, and $25.00 for the Summer Semester. These prices are subject to change. Students requiring financial aid may obtain a Semester Permit at half price. Contact the Financial Aid Department at 415-485-9409 to see if you qualify.

DAILY STUDENT PERMITS are $3.00 per calendar day, and may be purchased as follows:

With QUARTERS and ONE DOLLAR BILLS from any parking permit dispenser. They are located in several parking lots on campus.
SEE OUR CAMPUS MAPS FOR MACHINE LOCATIONS! At Kentfield lot 6, the daily permit machine accepts major credit cards, as well as cash and coin.
A DAILY STUDENT PERMIT is good in ANY STUDENT LOT, on EITHER CAMPUS for the date the permit was issued.

WARNING

Permits are numbered and registered when sold. Do not purchase PERMITS from any other source! If you are approached by an individual wishing to "sell a permit they no longer need", contact the Police Department at 485-9455. The permit you purchase from a stranger may be reported as LOST, STOLEN or COUNTERFEIT, and therefore be worthless! Students have been arrested for possessing lost, stolen or counterfeit permits.

This charge is a FELONY.

STAFF PERMITS
Staff Permits are issued to regularly employed college staff and must be replaced before each October. Applications for staff permits are made available in the mail rooms of both campuses during July, August and September. To obtain a staff permit at other times, contact your department head or department secretary for an application, or contact the Police Department at Ext. 7455. Student hourly employees are not eligible for staff permits.

FREE PARKING
Kentfield Campus Parking Lot 13 is designated as free parking. Lot 13 is by the Physical Education Building, past lot 12. You may park there without a parking permit. This lot is not paved and contains loose gravel. There are no lights at night.  You must park facing the logs or boulders in the lot. There is no parking there between 2:00AM and 6:00 AM.

MOTORCYCLES
Motorcycles displaying proper license plate registration do not need a parking permit, provided they park ONLY in motorcycle parking areas. These areas are clearly marked and posted. They are located in Kentfield Campus lots 1, 4, 5, and 7; and in Indian Valley Campus lots 5, and 7. A motorcycle found in a vehicle space without a permit will be cited. A motorcycle found outside of a marked space will be cited.

DISABLED PERSONS VEHICLE
Vehicles displaying the proper Disabled Person Placards or license plates may park in any STUDENT SPACE without the need of a STUDENT PERMIT. The college has several Disabled Person Parking Areas, which are marked with the traditional blue sign and symbol. Disabled persons are encouraged to use those areas. Use caution when parking, and do not park on any areas blocked out next to the disabled parking. These blocked out areas are unloading areas, and ALL vehicles (disabled placards or not) can be cited for blocking them. The fine as of this printing is $275.00.

VISITOR PARKING
OFFICIAL BUSINESS: If you are an official visitor to the Marin Community College, with an appointment, you may be eligible for a temporary one day parking permit. Contact the person you are meeting with, or their department secretary to see if you are eligible for this permit. You will be given the permit, which must be displayed on your vehicle during your meeting.

ALL OTHER VISITORS: Due to the limited parking available, Kentfield Campus has only 3 spaces designated for 45 minute visitor parking. These spaces are located in lot 3, next to the Harlan Center. No permit is necessary. There are also 4 spaces for 15 minute parking in lot #6, next to the Police Department. There are 2 spaces for 15 minute parking in lot #4, next to the Fine Arts building loading docks. There are 2 spaces for 15 minute loading only in lot #5 near the Learning Center.

Indian Valley Campus has several 45 minute visitor parking spaces in lot 4. There is also a 10 minute child care drop off in lot 5. No permit is necessary in these spaces.
