Bond Program Personnel Change Program Manager Dave Kirn has left his job with Swinerton after commuting from Sacramento to Kentfield for the past year-and-a-half. Swinerton has assigned Steven Buhler to serve as Interim Program Manager for the District. Steven started on November 1 and is already busy getting up to speed on the program. Steve is located in the Swinerton office at Kentfield; his new e-mail address is Steven.Buhler@marin.edu. We appreciate the good work Dave has done moving the modernization program along, and wish him well in his new endeavors.

Friday November 10, observance of Veteran's Day The District offices and both campuses will be closed on Friday November 10, 2006, in observance of Veteran's Day. Enjoy some well earned time off and remember our veterans.

Job Fair The Job Placement Office is hosting the first ever Job Fair at Indian Valley Campus on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 between the hours of 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. On hand to meet and recruit our students will be various employers. The event will take place at the Internet Café which is located close to the Administrative Services Cluster near parking lot 5, IVC. Upcoming The ASEC Emeritus Center is hosting an art exhibit featuring work by COM artists, including paintings in oil, encaustic, water color, pastel, and acrylic. At each entrance to the Center you will find a list of the artists, the names of their paintings, and prices, in case you are doing your holiday shopping early this year! The center is open weekdays. A reception for the artists will be held on November 8, the last day of the show, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. For more information contact Len Pullan, lenshir@earthlink.net. The Dance Department presents: All the Right Moves COM Dance Department performances are not to be missed. Come and support the award winning College of Marin Dance Department as they present their fall concert featuring a kaleidoscopic collage of dance styles ranging from aerial ballet to modern to hip hop. The performances will be presented Friday and Saturday, November 10 and 11, at 8 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre on the Kentfield Campus. Admission is $15 general and $10 for students, seniors, alums and COM employees. For information call the Box Office (415) 485-9385. The 24 Hour Play Project will be performed on November 18 at 8 p.m. in the Studio Theatre. This play will be created from an idea given to students 24 hours prior to the actual performance and will have been written, rehearsed, costumed, designed and built 24 hours before the event begins. Tickets are a suggested donation of $10 at the door only. No advance sales or reservations. Guest director Anna Berner will direct Gert Hoffman’s darkly comic capitalist take on the apocalypse, Our Man in Madras. It’s the end of the world, but business as usual for our man in Madras. Rounding out the evening will be Improv by AWOL (Actors With Out Lines) COM’s resident improvisational performers. Our Man in Madras and Improv will be performed Fridays and Saturdays, December 1, 2, 8, and 9 at 8 p.m. Tickets for all Black Box Festival events are a suggested donation of $10 at the door. On December 8 at 7 p.m. in Olney Hall 96, the COM Center for Regenerative Design will present John Francis: Saving the Planet One Step at a Time. This COMmunity Profile event features an intimate conversation with John Francis as he describes his pilgrimage on behalf of the environment and world peace that he describes as an interior journey as well as a physical trek walk across North and South America. Also, meet College of Marin Biology professor Paul Da Silva as he shares his perspective on environmental education. This event will be moderated by Sim Van der Ryn and Andres Edwards. Flu Shot Clinics updated schedule Additional dates have been added for the Flu Shot Clinics. Shots will now be available on the Kentfield Campus at the Health Center, DH 118 on Monday, November 13, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday, November 17, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. For further information, contact Jean Cabonce in the Health Center at 415-485-9458 or ext. 7458. Cost: $20.00 Appointments can be made after November 5th and will continue until vaccines are depleted.
Deadline to apply for IEP Scholarships The deadline to submit applications for scholarships for the spring 2007 Intensive English Program is fast approaching. Please be aware that only completed applications will be accepted at the ESL office in Kentfield. The complete application must be received by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 in the ESL Office, Harlan Center 123, Kentfield Campus.
