KUDOS

Many thanks to Dean of Workshop Development Nanda Schorske for her leadership in bringing WaMTEC to College of Marin’s Indian Valley Campus. The Grand Opening event was a great success with many special guests attending, including Supervisor Susan Adams, Dist 1; Supervisor Charles McGlashan, Dist 3; Supervisor Judy Arnold, Dist 5; Assemblyman Jared Huffman; Novato Mayor Mary Jeanne MacLeamy; Representing Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey: Tom Ross and Anita Franzi; Cynthia Koehler, President of the Marin Municipal Water District Board; Rick Frietas, Vice President of the North Marin Water District Board of Directors; Wanden Treanor, COM Trustee; Phil Kranenburg, COM Trustee; Greg Brockbank, COM Trustee; and Eva Long, COM Trustee among others. WaMTECmission is to research, develop, and demonstrate new water management practices and technologies that support a sustainable environment and a prosperous economy; and to engage and educate industry leaders and the broader community in state-of-the-art water and landscape management practices. Special thinks to COM Environmental Landscape Professor Dr. Fernando Agudelo-Silva, Laurie Loefler, and Julie Oyle for their help making the event a tremendous success!

COM English Instructional Specialist and part time instructor Rowena Southard’s short story “Translucence,” published in Sybil’s Garage No. 4 was favorably declared Kafkaesque by one reviewer.  “This story, a study of the isolated humanity of a brilliant entomologist, is a delicately phrased stroll through identity, projection, and obsession.”
