District Modernization Update

This summer has been a busy one for College of Marin’s Measure C Bond Modernization Program. The following is a summary of where we are today with specific projects:

Environmental Impact Report (EIR)

The Draft Environmental Impact Reports DEIR for both campuses are undergoing final edits. The reports reflect all comments received at public meetings held on both campuses in May 2007. The reports are a summary of all potential environmental impacts and mitigation measure recommendations for the Bond Spending Implementation Plan.

The DEIR will be delivered to the State Clearinghouse on July 19 to start the 45 day review period. The report will be available on the College website (‘Measure C Updates’ page) and in hard copy on both campuses at the Internet café at IVC and the Kentfield Library. The Swinerton Offices will also have hard copies available for review anytime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR) will be submitted to the Board of Trustees in November for action.

A new architectural firm has been contracted by the District to complete the design for this project. ED2 International is the new firm. They are underway with concept and programming, picking up where the previous firm left off. ED2 is working closely with the science/math user group and should move into the schematic design phase over the summer break.

West Campus Bridge Project

The bridge project is in its preliminary design phase pending a possible new location based on design changes to the Science-Math-Central Plant Complex. The site location should be resolved before the end of summer.
