At the Indian Valley Campus over 100 borings to a depth of 250 feet will occur.

A Noise Mitigation Plan is in place and will commence over the next few weeks. Flyers, signage, website, email, reader boards, posters, newspaper advertisements and mailers will be distributed for further information.

FAQ: Program Discontinuance/Elimination Policy

Q1. Does ACCJC/WASC require a program discontinuance/elimination policy?

A. In the November 2007 WASC Team Report on the bottom of page six the team noted "that the college does not have a program elimination policy (Standard II.A.6.B) and was informed that in September 2007 an Academic Senate appointed faculty to an Ad Hoc Program Discontinuance Committee. A draft of the policy was to be ready for review by November 1, but no drafts were available at the time of the visit."

Q2. What is the role of Ed Code in ensuring that appropriate policies are in place?

A. Ed Code 70902 gives California Community College Governing Boards the responsibility of and accountability for establishing required policies.

Instructional Equipment Requests and Program Review

The Instructional Equipment Committee (IEC) is asking all faculty and staff who submitted instructional equipment requests this year to submit them again on the program review form available at the Program Review website. After these forms are completed, they will be printed and given to the IEC to review and score. As requested by the Department Chairs, the Office of Student Learning already sent back copies of the original requests to the chairs if they should need them to complete the program reviews.

The IEC would appreciate it if you could complete the instructional equipment justification forms as soon as possible to request equipment you need this year. That will be our focus for this round of program reviews. IEC anticipates that part of our ongoing discussion will be on how our work may be changed so that we consider long-range as well as annual requests.

We would like to begin reviewing and scoring requests using a rating rubric to score all requests. The rubric contains the justification categories listed on the Program Review instructional equipment sheet and the original criteria on the instructional request forms our committee has been using. The rubric is being corrected to include final revisions and will be posted soon at Program Review website, under the IEC location. In the meantime, if you want an electronic copy, contact Carol Scialli at carol.scialli@marin.edu to ask for an electronic copy.

The IEC will score requests and set priorities. After the IEC completes its work, it will forward recommendations to the Institutional Planning Committee with a request for concurrence and forwarding to the Budget Committee. The Institutional Planning Committee, if it concurs, will forward a recommendation to the Budget Committee for approval of a total amount to be expended on instructional equipment. After the Budget Committee approves an amount and notifies IPC and IEC, we will begin going down the list and funding as many requests, based on priority order, as the funds will allow.

The members of the IEC are George Hritz, Arthur Lutz, Steve Brown, Cathy White-Lambert, and Susan Andrien; resources include David Erlenheim, Rose Jacques, and IEC Chair Anita Martinez.
