Friday Author Series: William Petrocelli - The Circle of Thirteen
Friday, April 29, 2016 - 1 PM to 2:30 PM
Set in a turbulent futuristic society, The Circle of Thirteen follows one woman’s investigation into the dark forces unleashing chaos around the world—a thrilling ride that will mesmerize until the end.
The Circle of Thirteen's gripping narrative weaves back and forth in time, from an act of domestic violence that created the disturbed personality of the Patria mastermind, to the two weeks leading up to the bombing at the UN, to events half a century before the bombing that directly influence it. The strong, relatable women and the unbreakable bond between them provide an emotionally grounded window into the future's unforgettable history.
Bill Petrocelli is the co-owner, with his wife Elaine, of the famed independent San Francisco Bay Area Book Passage bookstores. As a former Deputy Attorney General for the State of California and a poverty lawyer in Oakland, Petrocelli has long been an advocate for women’s rights. The Circle of Thirteen is his first novel. Join us for COMmon Read: Becoming Dr. Q
August 2015 to May 2016
COMmon Read is a shared reading program taking place throughout the 2015-2016 academic year. All students, faculty, staff, and community members are invited to read Becoming Dr. Q: My Journey from Migrant Farm Worker to Brain Surgeon by Alfredo Quiñones-Hinojosa. The goal of the program is to foster a sense of community, encourage an exchange of ideas, and promote disciplines across campus through a variety of events and activities. Several events will feature the College's very own writers and thinkers. And this year's COMmon Program will culminate with Dr. Quiñones-Hinojosa speaking at the College's 2016 commencement ceremony! Unless otherwise noted, events will take place in the William Keith Room in the College of Marin Library at Kentfield. Read more about the COMmon Read Program!
