Requirements for using Moodle

BASIC COMPUTER SKILLS

While any student can use Moodle, it is recommended that you have the following Computer Skills:

  • Basic computer skills
  • Experience navigating the Internet and using Internet Browser
  • Basic knowledge of formatting using a word processor
  • Comfort working with multiple windows.
  • Web Netiquette – students must know the do's and don’ts of online class communication

COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS

Before using Moodle, your computer must have one of the following web browsers:

  • Internet Explorer (v5.5 or later)
    Firefox (all versions)
    • Mozilla (v1.7 or later)
    • SeaMonkey (all versions)
    • Netscape (v7 or later)

Moodle works best in Firefox, however students may use any of the above browsers. For Macintosh users, please use Firefox, as many Moodle features are incompatible with Safari.

ENABLING JAVA AND JAVASCRIPT

Your browser should also have both java and javascript enabled. To enable java and javascript in Internet Explorer and Firefox follow these instructions:

  1. Go to Tools and click Internet Options.

  1. In Internet Options, click Advanced, then scroll down until you see Java.  Check the boxes under Java to enable java.
  1. In Options, click Content, then check the “Enable Java” and “Enable JavaScript.
