Credit English as a Second Language Success Workshops

Basic Information

The English as a Second Language Success Workshops are for new students whose native language is not English and who wish to enroll in classes. During the workshop, students will take a writing test and a reading/grammar test to determine the best level to begin. 

A counselor will give an orientation to the credit program at College of Marin.

The Success Workshops including testing and the orientation lasts approximately 3.5 hours. 

Before signing up for a Workshop, students must complete an application for admission to College of Marin and a residency form and recieve a college student identification number (#M00).  You may fill these out in person at Admissions and Records or online.

You must arrive at least 15 minutes early. Testing begins promptly at 9 am or 5 pm.

To sign up for a credit workshop:

  • Submit a credit application to Admissions and Records  Admission Application
  • Get a Student ID Number (a “MOO #”) from Admissions and Records
  • Sign–up in person at ESL office in Austin Science Center Room 137 or in the Counseling office in the Student Services building above the cafeteria or contact the ESL Office (415) 485-9642 or the Counseling office (415) 485-9432.
  • The test and workshop are FREE.

(yOU MUST apply to the college FIRST AND OBTAIN YOUR sTUDENT id m00# before you can register for the workshop.)

  • You must arrive at least 15 minutes early.
  • Testing begins promptly at 9 am or 5 pm.
  • You must stay for both the testing and orientation. You will receive final placement at the end.
