English Lab Tracking
Procedures
New tracking
procedures will allow instructors
and
TA's to:
- access a student's Lab hours at any point during the semester
- print or view reports by section number verifying a student's
total
hours
and/or the specific dates and times the student completed the hours
- view a current class roster
- view dropped students
- enter retroactive student hours
Upon entering the
Lab students should be instructed
to:
- visit: http://positive/positive/
on any computer in LC 110 or BC 101
- enter their Student 1D (SS#)
- work with a tutor as usual
Upon exiting the
lab students should be instructed
to:
- Keep their own record of Lab attendance--a sheet of paper
indicating
date,
time and a tutor's signature for verification
To access the
student records:
- Visit http://positive/positive/
- Enter the Department Password (which will be updated each
semester);
For access to department passwords, please contact the Department
Secretary, Helen Psaila, at 415 . 485 . 9348
- Click on the appropriate link.
Please
Note:
- Please remember to remind students in your classes
and in the Lab to keep their own record of hours by acquiring a
tutor's
signature as they leave the lab as proof of their attendance. This will
also help to insure that the student will stay for the entire session.
- We will have a binder in Room LC 110 and in Room BC 101 for
students to
sign who are not enrolled in English 120 or 98. We will need this data
to argue for the implementation of a campus-wide Writing Center.
- The department has agreed to allow colleagues working in the lab
to
update
a student's retroactive hours as necessary, so any student with proof
of
attendance in hand--a document including a tutor's signature, date and
time, for example--may ask a T.A. or an instructor in the lab to update
his/her Lab Hours on the computer. However, if a T.A. or instructor
cannot
verify that a student has, in fact, completed the hours, the student
should
be directed to their instructor for help.
As always, thanks for your
cooperation!
