28. Give the reason(s) for creating, revising,
or deleting this course. (If new course, what evidence of
need for this course exists?)
The current English 98 course does
not meet the needs of students who require instruction in college-level
reading techniuqes in addition to writing instruction. A course which
combines both reading and composition skills helps students develop a
critical understanding of the texts they read, prompting students to produce
high quality written work based upon text (a key academic skill). The
redesign will enhance reading and writing outcomes.
|
|
29. Feasibility. (Can the
department commit the resources necessary to support the course for the
proposed number of students and offer it with sufficient frequency to meet
program objectives? Please explain. Note: Approval of the
Curriculum Committee does not imply approval of funding.)
