 Deborah Graham

Deborah Graham received her early training at San Francisco Ballet. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Dance from U.C.L.A. and her Master's Degree from San Francisco State University. Some of the teachers she has studied under are: Ludmilla Shollar, Anatole Vilzak, Mia Slavenska, Nanette Charisse, Edward Villella, Martha Graham, Lar Lubovitch, Jack Cole, and Lee Theodore. She was principal dancer with the State Theatre in St. Gallen, Switzerland and Ulm Ballet in Ulm, Germany. She has performed in New York, Montreal, Canada and many cities in Europe as well as appearing in movies, television, and television commercials. Deborah has taught in New York City. She has her own dance studio in Mill Valley and currently teaches at the College of Marin.


 

 David Jones

David holds an MA in dance from Mills College. He studied at the University of Oregon where he performed with the Ballet Company. In the Bay Area, his mentors were Gwen Lewis and Ed Mock. He has been influenced by such noted jazz specialists as Gus Giordano and Joe Tremaine. He has worked with the Village People, Taj Mahal, Luciano Pavarotti, and Harold Nicholas of the famed Nicholas Brothers. He also worked with the cast of the Las Vegas spectacular "Jubilee". He has been a guest instructor for both the Dance Masters of America and the National Association of Dance Artists. He has been published.

 


 

Kris Kuhn

Kristi Kuhn grew in Maryland where she trained and performed at the Frederick School of Classical Ballet. Kristi holds a BFA in Dance Performance/Choreography from Towson State University in Towson Maryland. In 1986 Ms Kuhn completed an MFA in Dance from the University of California at Irvine. Since 1987, Kristi has been teaching, performing, and choreographing in the Bay Area.

 


 

Sheri Rollison

Sheri Rollison began her ballet training in Oakland with Grace Mann and Ronn Guidi. Shortly thereafter, she joined the Oakland Ballet as a solist and then principal. She continued her career in Germany, where she was asked by John Neumeier to join the Hamburg Ballet. She returned to the States to take a B.A. and M.A. in English and study modern dance with Ruth Hatfield. After performing with several modern dance troupes in the East Bay, she formed her own company, Polymusion. During this time, she received funding from the NEH to create five ballets for a four-semester college course in Western Civilization. After moving to Marin, she joined the dance faculty of the College of Marin, where she has taught and choreographed for 17 years.

 


         

Catherine Sim

Catherine Sim began her training with Barbara Horton in Pasadena, California and subsequently stuidied with Marc Wilde, Penelope Lagios, and Larry Burgoon in San Francisco. Over a period of 12 years she performed leading roles with the Marc Wilde Ballet, Lagios' San Francisco Dance Theater and Ron Guidi's Oakland Ballet. Most recently she was a member of the Kafkaz Company, which brought dances from Azerban, Georgia and Uzbekistan to audiences from San Francisco to Seattle. Ms Sim, currently a student of Baroque movement, has created historical dances for theCollege of Marin drama productions and has choreographed over 40 ballets in the last 20 years, the majority of them for the college. Ms. Sim, who holds a B.A. from U.C. Berkeley, is a former San Francisco critic for Dance Magazine and for the Marin Independent Journal. She has also published articles in Dance Teacher Now and the Great Events in History: Arts and Culture series from Salem Press.

 


 

Alan Scofield

Alan Scofield was educated at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and at San Francisco State University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Dance and Drama. His extensive performing, teaching, and choreographic experience have brought him national recognition. The San Francisco Ballet, the National Dance Institute, Les Ballets Jazz of Montreal, the Richmond School of Ballet and Regional Dance America are among the leading institutions who have relied consistently on Scofield's master coaching. His ability to enhance the creative potential of leaders and teams has led to consultation and seminars for such corporate clients as Mervyns, Hallmark Inc., and Kaiser Permanente. He is the author of the nationally acclaimed Musicality for Dancers course, which bonds technical and creative expression. He recently co-authored Being in Motion, a multi-media teaching program for Somatic Awareness. Alan was recently featured on the cover of Dance Teacher Now magazine in an article that spotlighted ten years of teaching as a local and national master teacher.


 

Sandra Tanner

Sandra Tanner has been teaching ballet and modern ballet at the College of Marin since the Spring of 1987. Prior to teaching at the College of Marin, she was Assistant Professor of Dance at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, for four years. A native of San Francisco, Sandra studied with the San Francisco Ballet, Marin Civic Ballet, and later with such notables as Eugene Loring, Anthony Tudor, and Stuart Hodes. After earning a Master of Fine Arts from New York University School of the Arts, she went on to perform with Risa Jaraslow and Dancers, and the Xoregos Performing Company of San Francisco. She has choreographed eighteen musicals ranging from the lyrical "Brigadoon" to the darkly dramatic "Sweeney Todd". In addition, she has choreographed modern ballet works for the Dayton Ballet II, and executed the musical staging for the Dayton Opera's Production of "H.M.S. Pinafore", and Marin Theater Company's production of "Loman Family Picnic".


 

Sandi Weldon

Sandi Weldon has been teaching, choreographing, and performing at the College of Marin for over twenty years. She has a Master's Degree in Theatre Arts and Dance and four Bachelor of Arts degrees in various subjects from San Francisco State University, Cal State University, Chico, and Montclair State College in New Jersey.
In addition to teaching at the College of Marin, Sandi has created a community theatre company in Marin called the Town Players. The focus of this group is to target participants of all ages with multi-generational shows that are chosen for their celebration of diversity, moral issues and family values. Professional artists often work with the participants as mentors to create exciting productions for the community.
Sandi has developed a musical theatre progam at the College of Marin for beginning, intermediate and advanced performers. This program integrates music, art, dance, and drama in public performance at the Playhouse in San Anselmo twice a year. The Musical Theatre Cabaret gives students the opportunity to do original works as well as demonstrate what is happening in their classrooms in the dance department. Sandi Weldon was honored with the "Outstanding Achievement Award for Arts in Education" in 1994 in the largest category of nominees which included such prestigious groups as Young Imaginations, the Ross Valley Community for Schools Arts Program, Bread n' Roses, the College of Marin Performing Arts Department, the Bay Area Discovery Museum, the Ensemble Theatre Company and others.
