THE COLLEGE OF MARIN DANCE
PROGRAM
The college of Marin dance program offers an
Associate of Arts degree in dance.
Our staff of 9 highly qualified
instructors teaches technique classes in beginning, intermediate
and advanced levels of ballet, modern, jazz, Afro-Haitian,
musical theater, modern ballet, choreography, improvisation,
dance history, dancercise, dance production, and dance company.
The focus of the program is to train students for performance
and/or related careers in dance, and to give all students the
experience fo appreciating dance as an art form.
The
College of Marin Dance Company presents a dance concert in the
spring and fall of each year inwhich chroeographic works by the
faculty and guest artists are presented. Guest artists have
included June Watanabe, Marin Ballet, Bay Area Repertory Dance
from U.C. Berkeley, David Roxander from the National Ballet of
Canada, and the San Francisco Jazz Dance Company.
College
of Marin dance students have gone on to such schools and
companies as New York University School for the Performing Arts,
the Alvin Ailey Summer and Two-Year Dance Programs, Mills
College, the Lisa Fain Dance Company and the Erick Hawkins Dance
Company.
