Coach Lager

Coach Lager begins his 27th campaign at the helm of the Mariners.  During this time the team has recorded 8 top 3 conference finishes and 2 conference championships. The team has been ranked in the top ten in the state four times and in the top 20 four additional times.   Coach Lager has guided 31 team members to all American rankings.  Twelve Aquatic Mariners have been awarded the Bay Conference swimmer of the Year during his time as coach.

He is a member of the Pacific Swimming Board of Directors and past Chairman of Pacific Swimming Zone 3.  He is the past President of the California Community College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association and has served as the Swimming Coaches’ Representative to the Bay Valley Conference for the past 20 years.  Warren’ s swimming career included qualifying for the National Championships while on the Marin Aquatic Club and two years of Varsity Swimming at UCLA.
Warren and his wife Amy have lived in Novato for 19 years.  They have two children, Jordan age 18 and Rachel, age 14.  Jordan is on the U.C. Davis Swim Team.

Coach Klunk, a graduate of Sacramento State University, Competed in diving at Terra Linda High School, Sacramento State, various Armed Forces competitions and at the 2006 Masters World Diving Championships. Coach Klunk joined the aquatics staff 5 years ago after retiring as a Lt. Colonel following a 25 year career in the United States Army.  Coach Klunk has been a huge asset to the aquatics program by leading athletes to the State Championship each of his 5 years on the staff.  Two of these divers made the United States Community College All-American Diving team.

Jeff began coaching his senior year of college while at Cal. State Northridge in ’87. He has coached 2 Olympians (Jason Lezak and Mark Warkentin).

He was recently elected to the Cal State Northridge Athletic Hall of Fame.  Jeff has the distinction of being the 100th inductee since the Hall of Fame was founded in 1958.    During his career at Northridge, Jeff won 7 NCAA championships and broke 5 NCAA and school records, 4 of which still stand 22 years later.  His swimming accolades include: 1987 Pan Am Gold Medal 200M breast, 3rd 1988 Olympic Trials, 3 time US Nat. Champion.

Jeff lives in Sonoma with his wife Piper, 3 1/2 year old daughter Keeley and is expecting a wee one on Thanksgiving Day, 2008.
