Online Courses Spring 2012

• Click on the department name below to access the Class Schedule Listing. From that web page, you can click on View Catalog Entry for an official course description, as well as click on the course name under Sections Found to find out registration availability.
• Click on the Course Welcome Letter under the course name below to find out the instructor’s specific course details, including meeting and participation requirements, waitlisting and adding procedures, and contact information.
• Click on Moodle Login to access the MyCOM Portal and the DE Tab for registered students. From there, registered students have direct access to their online courses in Moodle. (You must login to the MyCOM Portal to get to Moodle.)

To take Distance Education courses, you must have access to a reliable computer, your MyCOM email account, and a functioning Internet connection. You should also have a backup plan should your system or your Internet provider fail you. Since you submit your DE assignments and assessments online through the Moodle Learning Management System, you must also have a basic understanding of how to use email and attachments, navigate the Internet, and communicate online for success in your DE courses.

You should plan to access your Distance Education courses many times during the week to stay up to date with email correspondences, discussion forums, assignments, and assessments.

Many students think that Distance Education (DE) will somehow be easier than a face-to-face class, only to discover that the workload is different but by no means less time consuming or difficult. For success in your DE courses, be sure you have both the time and the technology to undertake them. Make use of COM's Student Support Services and be sure to read the Online Success Tips to enhance your online learning experience.
