The goal of the staff development program is to provide resources, training and opportunities that support the professional development needs of college employees; create a cohesive and supportive environment that recognizes and celebrates achievement; and improve institutional effectiveness with the ultimate goal of supporting student success.
Staff Development activities are posted on the Faculty and Staff Calendar under Calendar of Events on the College home page.
The Flexible Calendar program allows College of Marin to take 9 days out of the required 175 annual teaching days and devote them to professional development for faculty. Faculty may elect to attend workshops or perform individual activities on the Independent Flex days or during the semester. The Friday before classes begin each semester is a Mandatory Flex day that includes College Convocation in the morning and Academic Department Meetings in the afternoon.
Flex activities are open to all faculty and staff. Some activities require registration. Check the Faculty and Staff Calendar link on the College Home Page for information about scheduled activities and updates.
Note: Days converted to staff development use must be accounted for to the state. Faculty must identify how they met their Flex obligationeach semester by submitting a Flex Activities Verification Form to Human Resources by the last day of each semester. Click on the appropriate link below to download the current Flex Verification Form.
