To become a sixth grade Junior Botanist, students must begin to classify flowers by family.
They must learn 40 flowers and be able to say what family 30 of them are in.
Some will be easy - poppies in the Poppy Family, buttercups in the Buttercup Family,
violets in the Violet Family.
Others will take some study.
Note that the Pink Family has nothing to do with the color pink. Many flowers in this family have
lobed or notched petals as if they had been cut with pinking shears which gave rise to this name.
