General Admissions Information

The College of Marin serves students of all ages

Anyone 18 years of age or older, with or without a high school diploma, is eligible to enroll at College of Marin.

For information concerning enrollment of students under age 18 not currently enrolled in high school or lower and without a diploma (or equivalent), call the Office of Admissions and Records (415 457-8811, ext. 8822) or the Counseling Department (415 485-9431).

Residence Requirements for Admission

In general, to be considered a resident for tuition purposes, a student must have lived continuously in California for one year immediately preceding the residence determination date. The student must also provide documentation (as defined by the California Education Code) proving the student's intention to make California the student's permanent home. The residency determination date is the day before the semester begins.

International Admission

International Students seeking admission to the credit program must provide the following:

  • Provide evidence of English proficiency, if native language is not English:

a. Applicants living outside the San Francisco Bay Area must provide an acceptable score in the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). A score of 500, or 173 on the computer-based test or 61 on the Internet based test is required. www.toefl.org

b. Students living within the San Francisco Bay Area may take the College of Marin's TOEFL test in lieu of the official TOEFL. Please call 485-9469 for dates and times of test. (Intsitutional TOEFL's form other schools may not be accepted)

c. Provide an acceptable score on the IELTS (English for International Opportunity). A, score of 6.0 is required. www.ielts.org

  • Show means of adequate support by completing the Official Certification of Family Funds Form.
  • Submit $50.00 Application Processing Fee (non-refundable). The amount must be in United States dollars.
  • Provide an Enrollment Status Form completed by the last School attended in the United States.
  • Provide evidence of high school graduation and transcripts from all U.S. colleges and universities attended in the United States.

International Students are subject to the following fees

Nonresident tuition $ 207.00 per unit
Enrollment fee $ 46.00 per unit
Application fee $ 50.00
Health fee $ 17.00
Student Representation Fee (Optional) $ 1.00
Student Activities Fee (Optional) $ 8.00

Fees must be paid at the time of registration. Credit International Students are required to maintain enrollment in at least 12 units.
