Harry Moore Memorial Bench and Educational Dislpay

Dear Friends of College of Marin and our sustainable future.

Harry MooreHarry Moore was an early champion for sustainability and environmental stewardship in Marin County and he served with distinction on the College of Marin Board of Trustees before he died. Now, the College community would like to honor Harry’s memory with the installation of a memorial that will include an outdoor geothermal educational display and a commemorative bench. The Harry Moore Memorial will be built from sustainable materials and installed facing the creek adjacent to the new main building, which will open its doors on Dec. 14, 2010 with a grand opening celebration. We hope to have the necessary funds in advance of the ribbon cutting to unveil much of the Harry Moore Memorial on that date.

The memorial will be a special place for students and visitors to enjoy the natural beauty and serenity of the creek side location and may be used as part of an outdoor learning environment. Trustees, family and friends of Harry are pleased to announce that $7,500 has been raised, which is half of the cost needed to complete the memorial.

In order to finish the project an additional $7,500 is needed and we are asking you and our extended network of supporters to help us achieve this goal. All donations will be very much appreciated.

Donors giving $500 and above will be listed on the permanent outdoor educational display and will be acknowledged at the December 14, 2010 celebration. Donations must be received by November 15 in order to be included on the permanent display. Donors contributing under $500 will be acknowledged at the celebration on December 14, 2010 and all donors will included on the Harry Moore Memorial web page.

Your generous contribution will help honor Harry Moore, a visionary and dedicated public servant who was committed to student learning and our community. Any amount will be most appreciated.
