Free Fine Arts Lecture Series at College of Marin

KENTFIELD, CA—October 1, 2013—College of Marin will host a series of free lectures in conjunction with the Intimate Diebenkorn: Works on Paper 1949–1992 exhibit at the College of Marin Fine Arts Gallery. The lecture series features Timothy Anglin Burgard who recently co-curated the “Richard Diebenkorn: The Berkeley Years” exhibit at the de Young Museum in San Francisco. The lectures are open to the public and are free of charge.

Guest lecturer Anu Vikram, Professor of Art history, College of Marin and San Jose State University, will talk about the Figuration of Abstraction, which has been associated with Richard Diebenkorn’s work, among others.

Guest lecturer Timothy Anglin Burgard, will talk in depth about the recent exhibit held at the de Young Museum in San Francisco. Burgard is the Ednah Root Curator in Charge of American Art at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and was co-curator of “Richard Diebenkorn: The Berkeley Years”.

John Rapko, Professor of Art History at College of Marin and UC Berkeley, will talk about Richard Diebenkorn and the art of drawing.

The Intimate Diebenkorn: Works on Paper 1949–1992 exhibit continues at the College of Marin Fine Arts Gallery through November 14, 2013. The exhibit is open to the public free of charge. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
