COM to Host Town Hall Forum with Congressman Huffman and Congresswoman Pelosi

KENTFIELD, CA—August 15, 2014—College of Marin is inviting the community to attend a town hall forum with Congressman Jared Huffman and special guest House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the lobby of the Performing Arts Building. Former CBS news anchor Dana King will moderate the discussion on college affordability and the Strong Start for America's Children Act of 2013 (H.R. 3461). The impacts of extreme cuts to education—from Head start to K-12 initiatives to job training—are threatening our nation’s future prosperity. Join Superintendent/President David Wain Coon, Congressman Huffman, and Congresswoman Pelosi, along with College of Marin students and other community leaders to discuss issues related to our education system and explain what Congress is doing to fix it.

Those in attendance will have an opportunity to ask questions. This free event is open to the public.

For security reasons, backpacks and large bags will not be allowed inside the lobby of the Performing Arts Building or the Fine Arts Gallery. Attendees must secure their backpacks elsewhere before entering the event.

Please be advised that parking for this event may be limited and carpooling is strongly encouraged. Parking for the event will be directed to lots 6, 7, 9, 12, 13, and 15. A passenger drop off/pick up zone will be available via parking lot 3 (Circle Drive). Roaming shuttles will be available to transport individuals with mobility issues from parking lots listed to the Performing Arts Building.

To RSVP, email or call (415) 258-9657.
