COM Communications Director to Retire

KENTFIELD, CA—June 25, 2014—As of July 1, 2014, Cathy Summa-Wolfe, Executive Director of Communications, Community Relations, and Advancement, will retire after eight years at College of Marin and 25 years working for the California Community College’s system.

At the regular May 2014 meeting of the College of Marin Board, trustees acknowledged Summa-Wolfe’s accomplishments, including improving marketing and communications efforts and, most recently, successfully implementing an internal fundraising department, which has raised over $1 million for scholarships and program support in a little over a year.

“It has been such a pleasure working with you and I just want to commend you for all of your excellent work,” said Trustee Diana Conti. “You’re leaving the College in good shape. You’ve brought such excellence to the job and excellence to College of Marin.”

Superintendent/President David Wain Coon, Ed.D., says that Summa-Wolfe has contributed greatly to the College and will be missed.

“Since I arrived in 2010, Cathy and I have worked closely on a number of highly successful projects,” said Coon. “She is a consummate professional and has been a pleasure to work with. We all wish her the very best in her future endeavors.”

But Summa-Wolfe says she isn’t going far.

“I look forward to starting a new chapter; one that, hopefully, will involve some travel abroad and spending time with my family, granddaughter, and my horses. I plan to enroll in art or Italian language classes (at COM) this fall and I have been approached to do some consulting work,” said Summa-Wolfe. “I bought a house in Marin a few years ago and now consider it my permanent home.”

For an interim period, press inquiries should be routed to the Superintendent/President’s Office, 415.485.9508.
