College of Marin Enhanced Technology |
Background
In March 2006, the College of Marin signed a purchase agreement with SunGard Higher Education for the Banner, Luminis and additional software products, along with implementation services and maintenance for these products. SunGard Higher Education Banner software will replace existing systems for Finance, Human Resources, Student Information and Financial Aid.
The new system will replace the existing mission-critical administrative systems to provide a more state-of-the-art technical infrastructure that will carry the College of Marin forward into the foreseeable future. The system will be designed to enhance the College’s services to students, faculty and staff in the areas of:
- Admissions
- Budgeting
- Finance
- Financial Aid
- Human Resources/Payroll
|
- Purchasing
- Registration
- Reporting
- Student Accounts
- Student Advising
|
- Student Records
- Student Recruiting, Enrollment Management and Retention
|
The following developments are included in the new system: World Wide Web access for admission application, student registration and enrollment verification, grade reporting, financial aid and account status, budget and requisition status; automated degree audit to support academic advising; and similar enhancements that affect virtually all of the student service areas.
The implementation of the SunGard Higher Education Banner and Luminis systems will take place over the period of 24 months and will involve the participation of staff, faculty, and students at different phases of the project.
The College of Marin is eager to enhance its efforts in the following areas:

- Administrative support for instruction
- Streamlined business processes
- Greater access to important resources
