MMST 101: Orientation to Multimedia
(No prerequisite. Three laboratory hours weekly for eight weeks.) Digital media is becoming the predominant method for receiving news and entertainment. This course covers the tools and techniques needed to become literate in this new digital media universe. Armed with the knowledge and skills learned in the course, students will be able to safely and effectively find and consume the tremendous amount of digital media now available in many formats and delivery platforms. Access Requirements
This course is self-paced. No on-campus visits are required.
TextBooks
There are no required textbooks for this class. All the needed materials will be accessed through the course web site or supplemental, related web sites.
Course organization
The course is self-paced and organized into 6 TOPICS. Plan on spending about 15-20 hours total on the course materials.
First Day of Class Instructions
All enrolled students are required to login to the class Moodle website the first week of class to hold their spot in the class. If a registered student does not login to the class site during this period, his or her spot will be given to a student on the waitlist.
Waitlist & Add Codes
If you are on the waitlist or attempting to add the course, email the instructor, James Gonzalez as soon as possible to indicate your desire to take the course and to receive course start up information.
Please include your name, the section number of the class you wish to add, and your COM Student ID (if you have one) in your email. I do honor the official waitlist, adding students in the order they appear on the waitlist. Students are added in the order they appear on the wait list, as spots open up. Because enrolled students have the first week to check in, most spots do not open up until week 2 of the course, so be patient. The first week of class is mostly occupied by housekeeping tasks.
