CIS 110: Introduction to Computer Information
This is a Windows based online course. You must use a Windows compatible computer.
The CIS 110 - Introduction to Computer Information Systems online section covers the same material and satisfies the same transfer, degree and certificate requirements as the on campus sections. The online section provides an opportunity for College of Marin students to complete this 3 Unit transfer level course without the need to attend on campus lectures or labs.
Students must appear in person to take the Final Exam at the end of the semester.
Homework assignments require the use of Microsoft Office 2010 (or 2007) including Word, Excel and Access. THE BIS Computer Lab, located in LC 35 on the Kentfield Campus, is staffed by Lab Assistants who can assist students. The Lab has 25 workstations running Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010.
In order to participate in the online section of CIS 110, students must have an e-mail address, (your @mycom.marin.edu address cannot be used). Internet connection and sufficient Internet experience to be able to use a Web browser to fill out forms, download files and navigate Web sites.
Students are required to purchase (or rent) a copy of the currente e-Book CD edition of Computer Concepts textbook. (see class syllabus) which contains the Chapter Practice Tests. These Chapter Practice tests account for a major part of the student's grade.
