I have been teaching and tutoring at COM since 2000, and I've also taught at San Francisco State University, which is my alma mater. My Master's degree is in English Composition. I enjoy helping students connect with reading material and broaden their perspectives to help them formulate their own unique point of view. I love hearing the stories of students, and urge them to pay attention, think deeply, and write precisely. When I'm not working, I enjoy films and good conversations with my friends. I relish the poems of Kay Ryan, Mary Oliver, Shel Silverstein, and Walt Whitman. I enjoy op-ed pieces in The New York Times. In general, I enjoy reading, cooking, gardening, hiking, and spending time with my family.
